Operations Unit Manager

Indianapolis $100,000 - $160,000 Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Full accountability for the business unit's P&L, ensuring financial, operational, and strategic targets are met.
  • Drive safety, quality, throughput, and asset care through optimized engineering practices and maintenance compliance.
  • Provide operational input during product innovation and new product development to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a team of 80–100 hourly associates, fostering a high-morale, performance-driven culture.
  • Leverage automation and technology to streamline operations, reduce variability, and minimize production costs.
  • Prioritize first-pass quality and process integrity to ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality products.
  • Utilize data and analytical tools to identify root causes and resolve floor-level issues; serve as a data-informed leader.
  • Set clear performance expectations and lead performance management processes including coaching, feedback, and talent development.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, implementing initiatives to reduce losses in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with GMP, HACCP, and all food safety and regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members while building a robust leadership pipeline.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations or engineering, preferably within the food & beverage industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of high-speed processing equipment, automation, and controls.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L and driving operational cost improvements.
  • Experience working in FDA-regulated environments with strong knowledge of GMP and HACCP standards.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams in a manufacturing setting and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering preferred; MBA or related graduate degree is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to coach others, resolve conflict, and build high-performing teams.
  • Physically able to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and moving through a manufacturing plant as required.
