Laboratory Operations Coordinator

Indianapolis $20.00-$30.00 p/h Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement of supplies as needed.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with vendors for repairs when necessary.
  • Keep detailed maintenance logs and documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations within the laboratory.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions for laboratory staff and maintain records of training completion.
  • Develop and maintain a master schedule for laboratory activities, including experiments, equipment usage, and personnel assignments.
  • Coordinate scheduling conflicts and prioritize tasks to optimize laboratory efficiency.
  • Communicate schedule changes or updates to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to laboratory operations, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocols, and reports.
  • Compile data and generate reports on laboratory performance metrics, such as throughput, turnaround time, and resource utilization.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance documentation and audits as needed.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, researchers, and other departments to support interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and external partners, such as vendors, regulatory agencies, and service providers.
  • Facilitate communication and teamwork to achieve common goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences).
  • Prior experience in laboratory operations or a related administrative role preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, FDA) is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
