Plant Engineer

Job Requirements

  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Lead and support maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of accountability and best practices across the plant.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute capital projects, utilizing internal maintenance resources where appropriate.
  • Develop and optimize job plans to ensure timely, effective repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Define and track key performance indicators related to equipment reliability, PM completion, mechanical integrity, and controls/instrumentation performance.
  • Maintain and update the preventive maintenance schedule within the site’s CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical spares to minimize downtime.
  • Provide oversight of contractors, including training, safety compliance, job management, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure maintenance activities align with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., FDA, SQF, AIB, FESMA).
  • Support safe work practices including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and hot work permitting.
  • Act as a liaison with external contractors for capital and maintenance projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Participate in environmental, health, safety, and regulatory training as required.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to reduce cost, eliminate waste, and improve reliability.
  • Support corporate initiatives related to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts on equipment failures in collaboration with plant engineering.
  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and repairs across plant utilities and infrastructure.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant reliability or maintenance engineering experience; project management experience preferred.
  • Supervisory or management experience within chemical or manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CMMS/EAM systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
