Formulation Chemist

Indianapolis Competitive Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and optimize formulations for new products or improve existing formulations based on project requirements and customer needs.
  • Conduct experiments, tests, and analyses in the laboratory to evaluate the performance, stability, and quality of formulations. This may involve using various equipment, instruments, and techniques to characterize materials and assess product properties.
  • Stay updated on advancements in formulation chemistry, raw materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Continuously explore new technologies, ingredients, and techniques to enhance product performance, stability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including research and development, manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs to ensure alignment on project objectives and timelines. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and drive projects forward.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental data, procedures, and results in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in quality control activities to ensure that formulations meet established specifications and regulatory standards. Address any deviations or non-conformities through appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Stay informed about relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards governing product formulations and ingredients.
  • Ensure that formulations comply with regulatory requirements related to safety, efficacy, labeling, and environmental sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and product enhancement. Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, protocols, and methodologies within the formulation team.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Prior experience in formulation development, preferably in industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, personal care, or consumer goods.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry principles, materials science, and formulation techniques.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and experimental design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality management systems is a plus
