Entry Level Analytical Chemist

Indianapolis 40 - 55 Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using a variety of analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, titration, and microscopy.
  • Prepare samples for analysis by following established protocols and procedures. This may involve weighing, diluting, extracting, and homogenizing samples to ensure accurate and reproducible results.
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments and equipment including HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and atomic absorption spectrophotometers.
  • Calibrate instruments, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, chromatograms, spectra, and other results generated from analytical tests.
  • Document findings, observations, and calculations accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases.
  • Conduct quality control checks on laboratory instruments, reagents, and standards to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, test results, and instrument logs in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and documentation for internal review and regulatory submissions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, deviations, and out-of-specification results encountered during analytical testing.
  • Collaborate with senior chemists or supervisors to resolve problems and implement corrective actions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation and laboratory techniques preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, ChemStation, or Empower.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory work and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in a dynamic laboratory setting.
